Just reading about men like Philip Green, Stuart Rose and Rupert Murdoch whose wealth is used to shape the lives of millions, by-passing our democratic processes.
What is interesting is that people like this set out to make money as an end in itself. What they do with it seems very much an after thought, especially when it is all too easy to raise millions of other peoples’ money to play with.
Made me wonder why I get involved in art. Certainly not for the money and lavish lifestyle.
Maybe the hope is that the work will bypass democratic constraints and shape the lives of millions of people.
Art and power. Two sides of the same coin?
Mark Selby studied at West Notts College of F.E. and eventually made it into higher education at Cheltenham to do fine art.
